About us
Technology should bring people closer
We're a student-led non-profit in North York, Toronto. We teach older adults to use their own devices with confidence, and we build the friendships that keep those skills alive.
Sweep your cursor across the stars to connect the neighbours.
Our mission
Reduce digital isolation and scam risk for older adults, by building support networks that outlast any single workshop.
The problem we saw
Older adults don't lack digital literacy programs. They lack programs where the skills are remembered. A one-off class teaches a skill, then everyone goes home and forgets it.
Meanwhile, residents who can't use their devices confidently miss video calls with family, drift out of community life, and become the primary targets of phishing and phone scams.
So we flipped the model. The workshops are short. The network they create is the point: a buddy down the hall, volunteers who know your name, and a weekly Tech Coffee Hour that residents run themselves.
Our approach
What we believe
Skills stick when people practise together
Pairing residents as buddies turns learning into a shared, social habit instead of a lonely chore.
Safety is a team sport
A neighbour who asks "does this look right to you?" stops more scams than any app. We teach residents to protect each other.
Hand it off
Success means residents no longer need us. Week 4 hands the weekly meetup to resident champions.
Patience over speed
Every volunteer is trained to go at the resident's pace, explain without jargon, and never take over the device.
Privacy by default
We never handle passwords or financial accounts, and nothing identifying leaves a facility without written consent.
Two generations, both learning
Students build patience, communication and leadership. Residents gain confidence and company. Both sides leave changed.
